Odeal Mathis Lovett, 84, died on Monday, August 14, 2017, at her residence in Bentonia.
Mrs. Lovett was born Monday, December 12, 1932 in Tylertown to Onis and Leona Holmes.
She was a homemaker who loved planting and tending her flowers. The light of her life were her grandchildren.She loved her church and the people she came into contact with. Gabby her dog was her constant companion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Andrew Mathis Sr., and both parents.
She is survived by sons: Elbert Mathis, Jr., (Helen), of Greenville, Phillip Mathis, of Flora, David Mathis (Madonna) of Tallulah, La. and Clifford Mathis (Shondra) of Yazoo City; daughters: Ann Ward (Lamar) of Bentonia, Brenda Yarbrough (Rickey), of Rolling Fork, Debra Davis Of Yazoo City, Sherry Harthcock (Emmitt) of Vicksburg, Barbara Hearn (Glen) of Brandon and Marlene Wright (Wayne) of Magee; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rickey Yarbrough, Robert White, Hunter Wilkerson, Zach Platt, Wayne Wright and Phillip Dunn.
Services will be conducted by Pastor John Statin of Yazoo City Church of Christ.
Burial will be in Ward's Family Cemetery, Bentonia, MS, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 1 p.m.
Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home of Vicksburg, MS will be in charge of the services.
