Maggie Doris Griffing, 92 , of Bentonia died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Woodlands Rehabilitation Center in Clinton.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 22 at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the 2 p.m.funeral service with Rev. Earl Reyer and Rev. Buddy Bayliss officiating. Burial will follow in Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffing was born Jan. 29, 1924 in Yazoo County to James W. Hughes Sr. and Ila Cochran Hues. She was a retired merchandiser for American Greetings and a member of Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Johnnie James “Dick” Crutchfield, Foy Scroggins Sr. and Melvin P. Griffing Sr.; sisters, Charlotte Hughes and Grace Hughes; brothers, Dempsey Hughes, Marlvin Hughes, J.W. Hughes Jr., Harris Hughes and Earl Hughes.
Survivors include her daughter; Lottie Crutchfield Howell (Thomas) of Bentonia, grandchildren; Scott Howell of Coxburg (Tara) and Ryan Howell (Wendy) of Bentonia, great-grandchildren, Livi Colton Howell, Orin Howell, Sarah Jane Howell, Presley Howell, sister; Helen Reyer Cogburn of Sims, Ark.; sister-in-law, Emma Lee Hughes of Benton, and a host of extended family.
Her grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
