June Green Mathis, 76, of Yazoo City, passed away on August 05, 2017.
June was born in Louise, on June 12, 1941, to Thomas Leo Green and Louella Sanders Green.
She married Plum Michael Mathis Jr., in 1960. They had three sons: Jon Michael (Wanda), Gregory Douglas (Karen), and Thomas Vincent (Lisa) Mathis. June started her career at King’s Daughters Hospital Yazoo City where she worked 36 years before retiring from the Business Administration Department. June was a member of First Baptist Church of Yazoo City and Order of the Eastern Star. June took special joy in all of her grandchildren: Zachary, Jon Michael, Hanna, Kailey, Lauren, Thomas and Christopher. June loved her family, especially the annual Thanksgiving Green family gatherings, singing, dancing and music.
June was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Sonny Green; sisters, Evelyn Prine, Cathryn Jones; granddaughter, Megan Mathis; and her husband, Plum Mathis. She is survived by her three sons and daughter-in-laws; seven grandchildren; a brother, H.D. Green (Joy); sisters, Nina Redditt (Bardin), Merita Shook (Dossie), Susie Pitalo (Butch), Debbie Render (Phil) and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Yazoo City. Graveside will be conducted at Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to June’s favorite charities, Gideon’s International or Baptist Disaster Relief Fund.
