John Thomas Jenkins was born on September 2, 1952 in Yazoo City and passed away suddenly in Lafayette, La. on June 4, 2016.
A private memorial service and celebration of John’s life was held on June 6 in Lafayette.
John graduated from Yazoo City High School where he was an outstanding athlete in several sports. John later graduated from the University of S. Alabama with a major in accounting and earned his CPA designation shortly thereafter.
He was a proud retiree of the US Army, where he served several years in various overseas positions, receiving numerous honorary awards.
He spent much of his professional career in Jacksonville, Fla. and later in Lafayette, as a Chief Financial Controller. An active member of Asbury Methodist Church, John savored every attendance.
John enjoyed playing golf, reading, SEC football, and studying history and appreciated all kinds of music. He had a passion for the University of Alabama and got a kick out of all aspects of “Game Day.”
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Jenkins and Christine Eldridge Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Jacquelyn Mesh Jenkins; a daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Jenkins Adcox of Tuscaloosa (Charles Barton Adcox, Jr.); a son, John Alden Jenkins, of New York City and daughter, Chrissy Jenkins Williams (David Williams M.D.); three grandchildren, of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Linda Jenkins Ketchum and Peggie Jenkins Ivers of Yazoo City, and Mila Jenkins Waller of Lake Charles.
