Irma Louise Sandifer Phillips, 89, died on Saturday, May 13, 2017 in the Sardis Nursing Home.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m.Wednesday, May 17 followed by services at 11 a.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City.
Mrs. Phillips was born on January 10, 1928 in Rolling Fork and was the youngest of ten children.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Phillips of Yazoo City; daughter in law, Karen Collins Phillips, of Yazoo City; her parents, Joel Harvey and Florence Sandifer of Rolling Fork, MS and three brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Melvin (Garry) of Batesville, MS; two sons, Jimmy Phillips and Mike Phillips (Kathy) both of Yazoo City. She adored her three grandchildren, Lauren Phillips Allen (Josh) of Brandon, MS; Courtney Phillips Kirk (Bret) of Madison, MS and Slater Phillips, (Jennifer) of Greenville, MS, and Garry Melvin, Jr of Elgin, IL. She had six great-grandchildren and countless other children that she raised as a day care owner in Yazoo City.
The Phillips family would like to extend our gratitude to all of the staff at the Sardis Nursing Home and Legacy Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care. Memorials made be made in Irma’s name to Calvary Baptist Church in Yazoo City or to the Resident Fund of the Sardis Nursing Home in Sardis, MS.
