Ida May Beer Bolian, 89, died Thursday, July 28th. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd., Tuesday, August 2nd, from 4-7 p.m., and again at 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 3rd, with services at 10 a.m. Graveside service will then be held at Lakewood South on McCluer Road.

Ida May was born in Natchez on July 23, 1927, to Ferdinand and Frances Ketteringham Beer. “Little Beer” attended public schools in Natchez and Jackson, graduating from Central High School in 1945.
Ida May married Daniel L. Bolian in 1950, and together made homes in Jackson, Rogers, AR., and back to Jackson in 1972. She was a beloved teacher at Council McCluer, Brandon Academy, Hillcrest Christian School (Teacher of the Year), and various JPS schools.
Ida May was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in every town of residence: Alta Woods, 1st Presbyterian in Rogers, Central and Covenant Presbyterian. After Dan’s death in 2007, Ida May became a faithful member of Briarwood Presbyterian. She was active in Circle and The Presbyterian Women and was awarded Honorary Life Membership in 1991.
Ida May enjoyed dancing, bridge, gin rummy, Bunko, and swimming. But more importantly, she cherished her family, reflecting the values of those that love God.
Ida May was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Dan; her sister Esther Beer and husband Frank Swalm; and nephew John Alan Swalm. She is survived by her children Shellie B. Mahaffey (Frank), Danny Bolian (Susan) and Jody B. Hester; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Ferd Beer (Bernice); sister-in-law Polly Bolian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
