Hoover Lee, 86, of Louise died peacefully Thursday July 23, 2020 at his residence.
Born May 22, 1934 in Canton, China he came to the United States at the age of 9 months on The SS President Hoover 1.
His father Gave him his American Name of Hoover from this Ocean Liner. He graduated from Louise High School, attended 2 years at Hinds Jr College, then transferred to Mississippi State University in 1954 graduating in June 1956 with A BS Degree in Business Administration. Hoover served 2 years in the U. S. Army returning to Louise to operate the family business The Lee Hong Company, which his father started in 1917. A Retail Merchant in Louise he not only had served his country, he served his community being elected to the positions of Alderman & Mayor for the Town of Louise for almost 30 years, elected to six terms. Hoover was a member of Louise United Methodist Church.
This man never met a stranger. His greatest Love was his Heavenly Father, Family, Friends, and Mississippi State University.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Freeda Gee Lee, sons; Stanley W. “Stan” Lee and Timothy Lee both of Louise, daughter; Sharilyn “Shari” Lee of Madison, and sisters Fong Lau of New Jersey, and Grace Lee of California.
Hoover was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; John and Joe Lee and sisters; May Lee and Frances Wong.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 29 at 1:00 P.M. in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City. Rev. Jullian Crawford will officiate. The family, although they may not be present, would like to invite friends to come by Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City Wednesday morning to pay your respects and sign the register.
Hoover will always leave the Legacy for his Hoover Sauce used on grills and in recipes Throughout The Delta, the State of Mississippi and all over the U.S.A.
