Henry Lee Latham Sr, was born on August 1, 1932, in Canton, Mississippi. He died of natural causes peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2017, in Yazoo City Mississippi, at the Oasis Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 85 years old. He was the son of the late Susie Davis Hurd and the late Joshua Latham. He was one of eight siblings. Five of his seven siblings preceded him in death: the late Earnestine Latham Boxer; the late Mary Louise Latham Hill; the late Dorothy Latham Greer; the late Arthur Francis Latham; the late Franklin Latham (Carlee); and the late Woodrow Latham (Barbara). He is survived by two siblings Ms. Princess Latham and Ms. Easter Everett, of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his nephew Marcus Hill and preceded in death by his nephews Arthur Hill, Willie Anthony Hill, and Bobby Hill. He is survived by his two nieces Brenda Hill, of Yazoo City, Mississippi, and Valerie Johnson, of Birmingham, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Christene Ellzey Latham, of Tylertown, Mississippi, and his daughter, Cassandra Ann Latham. He is survived by his son, Henry Lee Latham, Jr. (Shirley), of Tylertown, Mississippi, and his daughter, Lesia Latham Mims (Michael), of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is survived by five grandchildren: Christopher Latham, Tony Latham, LaTasha Latham, Micah Mims, and Latham Mims. He is also survived by his really great friends: Ms. Nancy Keith, of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Ms. Ann Graham, of Kenner, Louisiana, and Jeff Taylor, of Yazoo City, Mississippi. He is an Army veteran and also served the U. S. Air Force. Henry lived in New Orleans for over 50 years; but he spent his childhood years and the last 12 years in Yazoo City after Hurricane Katrina. Members of South Central Bell (Bell South), Ochsner Hospital, University of New Orleans, His and Hers Barber Shop in New Orleans, past residents of Lake Forest Towers, employees of the New Orleans Fairgrounds, Oasis Rehabilitation Center are all invited to attend a memorial that will be held in Henry’s honor on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 2:00 pm., at the Scott Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1401 E. Broadway Street, Yazoo City, Mississippi. Benji Scott in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private.
