James Flint Liddon, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.
Funeral arrangements are Saturday, April 9, 2016. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. with funeral services following at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church Funeral arrangements are being provided by Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Flint was born February 13, 1932, in Memphis, Tenn., to James Flint Liddon and Claudine Clark Liddon.
Flint was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr. Sim Clark Liddon. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joanne Miller Liddon, and his three children, Lane Johnson (Don), Clark Liddon (Angie), Garfield Liddon (Marcia), and his four grandchildren, Lauren Liddon, Emily Liddon, Matt Liddon, and Benjamin Liddon.
Flint graduated from Yazoo City High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. He was also class president several years.
After high school, Flint graduated from Duke University in 1954, where he was commissioned as 2nd Lt. United States Air Force. He graduated from Navigator School and Ground Control Intercept School at Ellington Air Force in Houston, Texas in 1955. At Otis Air Force Base, Massachusetts, he flew EC121 as an Airborne Early Radar Controller. In 1956, he was a Ground Control Intercept Officer at Cape Charles, Va.
He served 28 years in the Mississippi Air National Guard where he flew C-121, C-124 and C-130’s on domestic and overseas missions. He retired in 1982.
Some of Flint’s favorite pastimes were traveling, canoeing the Buffalo River, watching Duke Basketball and following local sports. He could be caught at anytime sporting around town in his jeep.
He was a Regional Sales Manager for McBee Systems for over 35 years.
Flint was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church where he served as a Senior Warden on two occasions.
