Earnest Edward Jackson, 82, of Yazoo City passed away Friday, November 11, 2016, at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland.
Visitation will be held at Center Ridge Baptist Church in Yazoo City on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 9:30 – 11:00 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. under the Direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Jackson was born, January 1, 1934, in Atlanta, Texas to Alexander Frank and Myrtis Frances Jackson. After graduating from Atlanta High School, Mr. Jackson attended Paris Jr. College in Paris Texas and served in the United States Navy for two years. He married Martha Louise Carley on August 18, 1954 and the two settled in Yazoo City, MS in 1957 where Mr. Jackson worked for Mississippi Chemical Corporation until his retirement in 1999. He was a faithful member of Center Ridge Baptist Church where he served as an ordained Deacon for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Carley Jackson; his daughter, Kim Jackson; and brothers, James Franklin Jackson and B.F. Jackson.
He is survived by his son, Earnest Edward Jackson, Jr. (Mary Elizabeth) of Jackson, MS; grandchildren, Susan Hall Anderson (Stephen), Edwin Taylor Vickery and Anne Eastland Richardson (Cole); great-grandchildren, Eleanor Eastland Anderson and Stephen David Anderson; brother, George Wesley Jackson; and sister, Doris Virginia Graves.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the military charity of the donor’s choice.
