Bobby Wayne Dubois went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2017.
Visitation is Thursday from 2-3 p.m. at First Independent Methodist Church located at 1440 Jackson Avenue. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jay Trammell officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Bobby graduated from Yazoo City High School in the Spring of 1964. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he earned a Masters of English Literature. He went on to Vanderbilt University continuing his studies in the field of English Literature, earning a PhD.
Bobby served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve from 1968-1974, in the Military Police. Bobby returned to Vanderbilt as a teacher of English Literature, Anglo Saxon and Middle English, where he established himself as a strong mentor to many teaching assistants.
After Vanderbilt, Bobby was offered a position at Battle Ground Academy, where he taught from 1978 until 1985. After a career in teaching, Bobby turned his interest to Real Estate, where he served as a successful Broker in Franklin, Tennessee for 23 years before retiring in 2008.
Bobby then returned to his beloved Yazoo City, moving back into the home where he was raised in the Good Hope Community.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Radford Eugene DuBois, and mother, Mabel Burgess DuBois; sisters, Joyce DuBois Crocker and Shirley DuBois Cummings; brothers, Radford Eugene Dubois Jr. and Billy Maurice DuBois; nephew, Buford Rene DuBois and great-nephew Justin Waites DuBois.
Bobby leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Pam Crocker Drury, Kathy Crocker Boutwell, Helen Hyacinth Crocker, Tra’ DuBois, Angelique DuBois Fulgham, Andre DuBois, Diedre DuBois Barrett, Melanie Cummings Haunert, Merrell Cummings, Mark Cummings and Maurice Cummings; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Bob Anderson, Haley Barbour, Bill Bell, Larry Benson, David Cummings, Charles Graeber, Donald Gregory, David Holloway, Griffin Norquist Jr., Jake Rogers, Mike Simon, Ray Smith and Joe Staler.
