Winston Jones, the manager of MedStat emergency medical services in Yazoo City, died early Tuesday morning.
Jones, 61, has managed Yazoo County’s ambulance services since MedStat was awarded the contract. Jones was considered by his peers to be an effective leader and was active in the community.
“He was a good man, and he was very good at his job,” said Jack Willingham, director of the Yazoo County Emergency Management Agency. “He is going to be missed.”
County Administrator Donna Kraft said that Jones leaves big shoes to fill.
“This is a tremendous loss for Yazoo County,” Kraft said.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Jones apparently suffered a heart attack.
Funeral arrangements were unavailable by press time.
