Runners from around the state will be in town Saturday for the Yazoo Delta Half Marathon.
The race, which is a fundraiser for Preservation Yazoo, will offer a tour of many of the historic sites in Yazoo City, including the Witch’s grave in Glenwood Cemetery.
Herald Publisher Jason Patterson has been asked to serve as the race’s grand marshal and will fire the starting pistol for the half marathon.
“This is an event that our newspaper is pleased to support,” Patterson said. “Preservation Yazoo has done tremendous work to preserve our city’s history, and it certainly hasn’t always been easy. They have been persistent, however, and it seems like the momentum is finally shifting in their favor. I hope that this event is a huge success that keeps growing every year.”
There will also be a 5K run and walk.
The half marathon begins at 8 a.m., and the 5K will begin at 8:15 a.m.
The race will begin and end at the Yazoo County Fairgrounds.
