A Yazoo City man wanted for allegedly enticing a child into the woods for sexual purposes was arrested last week for firing shots during an altercation.
Christopher Curtis, of 159 North Point Court was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen firearm and gratification of lust.
Police Chief Andre Lloyd said Curtis fired a stolen handgun at a man on Grand Avenue near Walmart last Saturday.
“(Curtis) tried to shoot the man, but he missed,” Lloyd said.
Lloyd also said the weapon was recovered by officers at the scene, and the gun had been reported stolen.
Lloyd said there was already a warrant for Curtis’ arrest after he allegedly enticed a child on Sept. 23, 2016.
“The incident occurred on Hill Street, where he attempted to lure a seven-year-old girl into the woods for sexual purposes,” Lloyd added.
Curtis’ bond was set at $135,000.
