A third suspect in the murder of Anthony “Big Ant” Tyler was made in Indiana earlier this week by US Marshals.
Anfernee Rashaun Brent, 21, of Yazoo, was charged with murder after being discovered at a relative’s apartment in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Brent was listed as wanted on the National Criminal Information Center's database. That announcement led to the contact of the US Marshal's Office.
“We are making arrangements now to extradite him, and hopefully we will have him back here soon,” said Chief Jeff Curtis.
Brent remains in the Allen County Jail while he awaits extradition.
Once Brent arrives back in Yazoo City, he will go before a judge for initial appearance.
"We will go to every extent to see justice done in this case,” Curtis said. “No matter how far we must go or how long it will take us, we will bring those responsible to justice.”
Tyler was killed on March 3 at his home on West Eleventh Street in Yazoo City.
Kordarius Antwon Williams, 17, of Jackson, was the first suspect charged with first degree murder in Tyler’s case.
Rodrick “Duke” Williams, 26, of 1402 Barnwell, was also charged with first degree murder.
Curtis said the investigation is still ongoing.
“We have made a third arrest, but we are not finished,” Curtis said. “There is a possibility of more charges to come.”
Curtis said his department is making progress with the city’s other murder cases.
The books should close soon on the shooting case at Big Chase Restaurant on East Broadway last April that left two men dead.
Wesley Moore was found by officers with a gunshot wound in the back. He was taken to the hospital, where he died the next day.
The suspect was identified 45-year-old Keith Dent.
Dent was found dead from a gunshot wound later that morning on the corner of Monroe Street and E. Jefferson Street about a man with a gun.
“We are going to have closure on that case soon, hopefully by next week,” Curtis said.
Curtis said the DeAngelo Brown murder case is still ongoing, however.
“We are working diligently to solve that case,” Curtis said.
The body of Brown, 24, was found last February in the Twin Cinema parking lot with a gunshot wound.
“We are making progress with our cases,” Curtis adds. “We are making sure we are doing everything the right way.”
