Sedric Hudson, director of the parks and recreation, resigned from his post this week after leading the department for close to two years.
Hudson submitted a letter of resignation effective June 7 to the Parks and Recreation Commission earlier this week.
“Thank you for the support and opportunities you have provided me over my brief tenure,” Hudson’s letter reads. “I wholeheartedly believe a lot of improvements have been made through events, recreational programs, field maintenance and facility security. I sincerely hope that the improvements continue.”
Hudson assumed leadership of parks and recreation in September of 2017. During his tenure, he promoted a variety of athletic programs and community events, such as a movie night, Halloween and Easter festivities, Touch A Truck program and a classic car show.
Hudson was also awarded the Yazoo County Chamber of Commerce’s Spirit of Yazoo award in 2018. Readers of The Yazoo Herald also selected him as Man of the Year in 2018.
Hudson told The Yazoo Herald he plans to spend time with his family but will also continue to be active within the community.
