A new member was added to the Yazoo Convention and Visitors Board this week, removing one long-serving member and former board chairman.
John Meeks was removed from the local board Monday, being replaced by Danny Neely.
The Yazoo County Board of Supervisors accepted the new nomination during its board meeting Monday morning.
Supervisor Cobie Collins nominated Neely to replace Meeks.
“I can’t ever get (Meeks) to call me back,” Collins said. “He won’t ever respond to me.”
Neely has served in a number of community service positions over the years. He was a firefighter, served as Yazoo City’s building inspector and has served on the Yazoo Housing Authority Board.
It's an honor and privilege to be asked to serve on this board,” Neely said. “My track record speaks for itself. I want nothing but what's in the best interests for my hometown, where I been all my life.”
