The 25-year-old Yazoo City man charged with the murder of Keondra Williams was already wanted for another incident involving a gun when he was charged with murder.
Richard Johnson was recently charged with murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after Williams was found dead in her car at Oakhaven Apartments.
Sheriff Jake Sheriff said that at the time Johnson was charged, he was already wanted for allegedly shooting at three people at Shady Lane Apartments. That incident resulted in Johnson also being charged with three counts of aggravated assault, one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Justice Court Judge Pam May set Johnson’s bond at $1 million.
Sheriff said that Johnson has a lengthy criminal history and a history of violence. He stressed that although Johnson is charged with William’s murder, the case remains under investigation.
“We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information about this case to contact us at 746-5611,” Sheriff said.
