A man remains in custody after leading police officers on a high speed chase into Madison County earlier this week.
Morris Marshall, 22, was charged with felony fleeing and resisting arrest.
Bentonia Police Chief Jason Bright said officers received a call that Marshall was threatening to shoot a woman Monday. When officers arrived at the scene, Marshall had already left the area.
“Officers later saw his vehicle coming back through Bentonia,” Bright said. “Officers attempted to pull him over, but then he took off.”
Bright said Marshall led officers in a chase into Madison County, where he ditched his vehicle and fled on foot.
“Officers searched the area and soon discovered his mother lived not too far from there,” Bright said. “We contacted her and explained the best thing would be for him to turn himself in.”
About an hour later, Marshall did turn himself into the Flora Police Department, which soon contacted the Bentonia Police Department.
As of press time, Marshall remained in the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility.
