A suspect who allegedly beat a man with brass knuckles was arrested by officers this week.
James Collums Jr. was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Cpt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said the attack occurred around midnight on March 16. Following a number of leads to his whereabouts, Collums was linked with the crime and arrested this week in the parking lot of a local store.
“The victim contacted his former girlfriend, who is now the current girlfriend of the suspect, to ask for $40,” Nevels said. “The suspect then went to the victim’s home to confront him about contacting his girlfriend. The argument led to a physical altercation with the suspect beating the victim in the face with brass knuckles.”
Collums remained in jail as of press time.
