Funeral services for Larry E. Harris were Monday, March 14, 2016 at Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris was born Nov. 29, 1959 to Henry Harris Sr. and Zelma Harris. He graduated from St. Francis Catholic School where he was active in all sports and had a reputation as a team player. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. During his service he earned the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with “60” and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He received his honorable discharge in 1974. After the Marines, he was employed with AT&T until his retirement.
In June of 1978, he married Rose M. Weekly in Yazoo County, and they had three children together.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; seven children, Rickey, Kiesha, Shaunna, Larry Jr., Roncedric, Gloriastine and Jabari; two brothers, Maurice Harris and Henry Harris Jr.; a sister, Gloriastien Corcoran; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The family is grateful beyond measure for every expression of love and support. A special thank you to the Kare-in-Home Hospital Care and the Veteran’s Administration doctors and nursing staff. While it is difficult to know that Larry has passed, we are thankful to God for the time we shared. We believe and trust God to be our comforter to withstand this challenging time. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Jefferson, Cedric Robinson, Anthony Jackson, Edward Johnson, Quinn Woods and Michael Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Harris, Roncedric Harris, Rodney Harris, Larry Harris Jr., Jabari Harris and Adam G. Harris.
