Applications are now available for the 2016 Yazoo Community Scholarship.
All Yazoo County residents who are continuing their education past the high school level are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded for the most deserving applicants based on donations received by the scholarship fund. The deadline for applications to be received is Friday, April 15, 2016.
Over 400 scholarship recipients have been awarded since the fund started. Many individual residents as well as area businesses have given to the scholarship fund so that students can further their education.
Students who are in need of assistance can pick up an application from their high school counselor or Sallie Pender at Bank of Yazoo. Completed applications should be mailed to Sallie Pender, Bank of Yazoo City, P.O. Box 600, Yazoo City, MS 39194.
For individuals who would like to honor a parent, spouse, grandparent, friend or employee, a contribution to the Yazoo Community Scholarship Fund is an excellent way to show appreciation and, at the same time, give a deserving student help with the rising cost of tuition and books. One hundred percent of the funds donated will be awarded.
Donations should be mailed by Saturday, April 15 to Sallie Pender, Bank of Yazoo City, P.O. Box 600, Yazoo City, MS 39194.
“Over 400 applicants have been awarded in the past from the generosity of those who have contributed, and we would love to see the number grow in 2016,” said YCSF Board President Lauren Pettigrew.
