Barry Bridgforth, attorney for the Yazoo City Housing Authority Board, resigned from his post as the board’s legal counsel this week.
“As we discussed, given my current heavy workload, I am unable to commit the hours needed by the Yazoo City Housing Authority at this time,” Bridgforth’s resignation letter reads. “It has been a pleasure to represent the Yazoo Housing Authority for all these many years, and I wish nothing but the best as it moves forward.”
Bridgforth said the Housing Authority Board should have capable legal counsel as it moves forward with the Rental Assistance Demonstration project. Housing Board Chairman Danny Neely said Bridgforth recommended hiring Lilli Evans-Bass, who assisted with the RAD closing deal over the last several weeks.
During its monthly meeting last Tuesday, the Housing Authority Board hired Evans-Bass as the board’s replacement for legal representation.
“We hate to see Bridgforth leave, and we are sorry he will be gone,” Neely said. “But, of course, we will respect his request.”
