Four Yazoo City men are charged with armed robbery following a home invasion on Northpoint Drive Friday.
David Richardson, 19, Stevie Leonard, 20, Reginald Jones, 19, and Danny Freeman, 45, are all charged in connection with a home invasion that occurred around 3 a.m. Friday.
Sheriff Jake Sheriff said investigators believe Freeman and Jones kicked in the door of the home to gain entry.
“Jones pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money,” said Chief Investigator Terry Gann. “Then he pointed the gun at one of the victim’s children. At that point, she gave him her purse, which contained over $2,000 in cash.”
Gann said that the investigation later revealed that Leonard overheard the victim talking about the cash that she had. Investigators believe Leonard used that information to recruit the others to help with the robbery.
Gann said that Richardson was the driver, and investigators believe Leonard stayed in the vehicle with him while the other men forced their way into the home.
All four suspects were arrested within a few hours. Sheriff said that three of them have confessed to the crime.
Jones is also facing an aggravated assault charge for pointing a gun at a child. Leonard is also charged with conspiracy for using the information about the money to organize the crime.
Deputy Dustin Wadford, who was the first to respond to the scene, recovered $1,860 of the stolen cash, and Gann recovered the gun believed to have been used in the crime on Monday.
Sheriff praised the work of his deputies in quickly making arrests.
All four suspects remain in the Yazoo County Correctional Facility.
