A number of state leaders, retired military officials and a popular radio figure will be special guests during the dedication ceremony of The Moving Wall in Yazoo City on Friday.
Event organizers said they are very excited to welcome the visiting guests ranging from Gov. Phil Bryant to radio personality Paul Ott.
The dedication ceremony will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at The Moving Wall, located at the former Yazoo Motor Company site.
Gov. Phil Bryant
Known for strong integrity and commitment to an accountable government, Phil Bryant was sworn in as Mississippi’s 64th governor on January 10, 2012. He was elected in November 2011 after capturing 62 percent of the vote.
In his Inaugural Address, Bryant outlined his vision for Mississippians to rise together through economic expansion, efficiency in government and adherence to values that make Mississippi great.
Prior to becoming governor, Bryant served one term as Mississippi’s 37th lieutenant governor after earning 59 percent of the vote in November 2007. He also served Mississippi as state auditor and represented his legislative district in the Mississippi House of Representatives for five years.
Bryant has a long history of fighting for conservative beliefs like lower taxes and traditional values.
Bryant’s dedication to his work is evident through his years of public service, but his faith and family have always come first. Phil Bryant and his wife First Lady of Mississippi Deborah Bryant have two children, Patrick Bryant and Katie Bryant Snell, and are active members of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
Rep. Gregg Harper
Gregg Harper is currently serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives after having been first elected to Congress in November of 2008.
Mississippi’s Third Congressional District stretches from Wilkinson County in southwest Mississippi to Oktibbeha County and includes the northeast corner of Jackson and the I-20 corridor into east central Mississippi.
Gregg has lived in Mississippi’s Third Congressional District since 1972 and currently resides in Pearl with his wife of 36 years, Sidney, and has two children, Livingston and Maggie. The Harpers are active members of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi.
It is Gregg Harper’s desire to serve the State of Mississippi and our country with honor and integrity. In his work in the U.S. House of Representatives, he is committed to advocating conservative values in the important tasks and challenges facing America.
Jeff Hammond
Jeff Hammond is a husband and father, once a soldier, and a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi . He received his commission as an Army Officer upon graduation in 1979 and during his years at USM was a member of the football team where he played quarterback, and served as a team captain.
Throughout his years in the Army, he led soldiers and families through numerous challenging circumstances. His service included duty as the Commanding General, Multi-National Division Baghdad where he deployed Soldiers to Iraq for 15-month starting in December 2007. Over the years he deployed on four occasions, one involving enforcement of the Dayton Peace Accord (Bosnia). His staff experience includes the Army Director of Operations, Readiness and Mobilization and duty with the Pentagon Joint Staff.
He currently serves his Alma Mater as the Director for Military & Veterans Student Affairs.
Jeff has been married to Diane (a USM Criminal Justice graduate) for 32-years and they have two children, Michael and Meagan (both Texas A&M Aggies).
TK Moffett
Major General Moffett is a graduate of the United States Military Academy (West Point). He served as an airborne Infantry Officer and Armor Officer, and is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course and the Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Major General Moffett’s military career spanned 40 years in the Army, Army Reserve and the Mississippi Army National Guard. He commanded at every level from Platoon Leader to Tank Battalion Commander to Division Commander, having served in the 155th Armored Brigade, the 25th Infantry Division, the 4th Infantry Division, the 91st Division and the 104th Division.
Major General Moffett was promoted to Brigadier General in 1999 and Major General in 2003. He was the Commanding General of the Troop Command Mississippi National Guard, the Deputy Commanding General of the 91st Division in California and Commanding General of the 104th Division in Vancouver, Washington. He retired in 2007.
His awards and decorations include the Mississippi Commendation Medal, the Mississippi Magnolia Medal, the Mississippi Magnolia Cross, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and the Army Distinguished Service Medal.
Major General Moffett is the owner of Moffett Law Firm, PLLC, with offices in Tupelo and Amory, Mississippi. He served as Tupelo City Prosecutor for ten years. He is admitted to practice law in Mississippi and Alabama, the United States District Courts of Mississippi and the Northern District of Alabama, the Mississippi and Alabama Supreme Courts, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He lives in Tupelo, Mississippi with his wife Rita. They have one daughter, Tara Leigh Dowden, Married to Dr. Landon Dowden, and three grandchildren, Arabella, Adalaide and Adoniram Dowden.
Major General Moffett is the Founder and Owner of Moffett Leadership Institute and has conducted leadership and ethics training with numerous military forums throughout the United States, Nigeria and Rwanda. He studied Municipal Policing at Harvard University.
Paul Ott
To thousands of wildlife conservationists in all 50 states, Paul Ott's name means a single voice singing out a message to conserve a place for wild things and wild places for future generations to enjoy as we have before them.
To Industry, his name means a sensible philosophy of conservation – not preservation. He believes in the economic growth of our Country.
In the early 70s Paul Ott began his career as the media representative for what was then called the Mississippi Game and Fish Commission. Traveling not only around the beautiful state, he also traveled across the United States raising awareness to the need for conservation of our wildlife and natural resources. Founding the Listen to the Eagle and The Day of the Lord Foundation, Paul began appearing on statewide and national TV promoting both his love for the outdoors and for Christ.
To the multi-billion dollar tourist industry, he is the “Voice of the South”. Paul Ott is currently hosting his own live call-in radio show entitled “Listen to the Eagle”. The show is also being aired on TV weekly. Both shows are growing across the South and across the County.
