The father of a 2016 murder victim is charged with shooting two men who were at the nightclub when his son was shot.
Otis Porter is charged with two counts of aggravated assault after an altercation turned violent last Friday afternoon.
Police Chief Andre Lloyd said the two victims are recovering from minor injuries after shots were fired following a heated argument near Calhoun Avenue and Fifth Street.
“The young men were on their porch, and Porter was on the sidewalk in front of his house,” Lloyd said. “They live two houses down from each other, and the altercation escalated into a shoot-out.”
Lloyd said Porter is the father of Justin Porter, who was murdered outside the Teflon event center last year. He said the argument this week may have stemmed from that 2016 shooting.
“The young men on the porch were at the nightclub the night Porter’s son was shot,” Lloyd said.
Lloyd said investigators have not closed the book on the case just yet.
“We are still trying to see who shot first,” Lloyd added. “We are still speaking with witnesses to figure out who fired the first shot.”
