It’s never a good idea to drink and drive, but it’s a really bad plan to drive down the street the sheriff lives on when you’ve had too much to drink.
You might hit his truck.
Or his house.
You might even end up in jail.
Freddie Robinson is accused of doing all of these things.
A deputy had just left the Sheriff’s Department’s temporary location at the old county jail and driving down Monroe Street when one of Sheriff Jake Sheriff’s neighbors flagged the deputy down. The neighbor said he had just seen a van hit the sheriff’s Ford Explorer that he uses for law enforcement and drive away.
The van hit Sheriff’s vehicle so hard that it jumped the curb and damaged the rail on the steps leading to Sheriff’s home.
Robinson was stopped and arrested a few blocks away. He failed a breathalyzer test and was charged with DUI.
He is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident, destruction of public property and destruction of private property.
Robinson was released from the Yazoo County Jail after posting a $2,500 bond.
Suspect
Captured
Deputies have been searching for burglary suspect Timothy Turner for over two weeks, but he was captured in Flora this week.
Chief Investigator Terry Gann said that Turner was found behind the Dollar General in Flora after his care broke down. Flora Police assisted with his arrest.
Turner, 44, was wanted for grand larceny as the suspect in items being stolen from a residence on Old Benton Road. Gann said that all of the stolen items have been recovered except for a four-wheeler and a lawn mower.
“We are working right now to recover those items,” Gann said.
Turner remained in the Yazoo County Correctional Facility at press time.
ATV Theft
Suspect Caught
Timson Hudson, 30, was arrested on Myrleville Road Monday after investigators identified him as the suspect in the theft of a Big Red three-wheeler.
“The three-wheeler was stolen on Friday, and our investigators began watching ATV repair shops,” Sheriff said. “On Monday, Hudson showed up to a local shop seeking to have a key made for the stolen ATV. He was stopped shortly after leaving.”
Hudson led deputies to the stolen ATV at his home on Walnut Alley.
