An independent candidate for District 2 supervisor has withdrawn from the upcoming election.
Nate VanCleave informed Circuit Clerk Robert Coleman that he is dropping out of the race.
The District 2 race will now be between incumbent David Berry, Remona Suttlar, winner of the Democratic primary, and independent candidates W.F. “Bill” Anderson and Joshua Waters.
VanCleave is the third candidate to remove their name from consideration in county elections.
District 4 Supervisor Jayne Dew recently withdrew from the election. Dew’s departure will make the first time a Dew has not occupied the District 4 seat in nearly three decades. Dew succeeded her late husband Ed Dew after his death in 2012. Ed Dew had served as District 4 Supervisor for 20 years.
The next District 4 supervisor will either be Marcia Arp, who won the Democratic primary, or independent candidate David Shipp.
In June Southern District constable candidate Darren Solleck withdrew from the election.
In that race, Democratic primary winner Eddie “Ace” Smith will face independent candidates Chris Carr and Bryan “Big Easy” Thomas.
The general election for state and county elections will be held on Nov. 5.
