The city council has only a few weeks to decide who they will appoint to several committee seats that will be open for nominations.
Mayor Diane Delaware reminded the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to take its upcoming nominations seriously for the future of Yazoo City.
“I will be sending you a list of all of the individuals whose term ends so that you will have some time to consider (nominations) versus what we have done in the past,” she said.
Delaware was particularly mindful of the Yazoo City Municipal School Board nominations. The city council normally nominates the school district posts in March, but those appointments will come sooner this year.
“We will make our move in February versus March,” Delaware said. “I am saying it is something we need to consider to provide consistency in our actions.”
