Three city officials have been placed together in the same building to better serve the municipality in their connected jobs.
The building inspector, fire marshal and safety manager now have offices at 107 Calhoun Ave., located inside a city-owned building next door to the police department.
Mayor Diane Delaware said it has been difficult in the past for these three employees to get in the same page due to their separation.
“The reason I put all three of these men in a building together is because much of their jobs overlap,” Delaware said. “They don’t work with one another productively. If we put these gentlemen together, and they begin to work horizontally together, we need to see how productive they can be.”
Although the positions operate on their own, Delaware said there are certain job duties that tie them together.
“They will still be doing their jobs, but I have placed under one roof together,” Delaware said. “They can map out how they are going to work Yazoo City, doing each of their jobs but doing it in a congruent and integrated way.”
