Gov. Phil Bryant is expected to sign into law a bill today that could reduce the number of telemarketing calls to cellphone users.
The bill allows residents to add their cellphone numbers to the Mississippi No Call List beginning on July 1, 2016. It will generally take two months from the time you register your number before the service takes effect.
The Mississippi Public Service Commission maintains the No Call Registry for home landlines and now for cellphones.
“We are very pleased that Mississippi citizens will now be able to add their cellphone numbers to the No Call Registry. Consumers are tired of unsolicited phone calls and are ready for this relief. I plan to add my cellphone number on July 1.” said Central District Commissioner Cecil Brown.
