Ward 4 Alderman said that he fears a section of Fifteenth Street is going to cause an accident if problems aren’t corrected soon.
“My thinking is that if we don’t address this and get that section of the road fixed, we may have a major lawsuit,” Brent said during the Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting last week. “There are school children traveling that road every day on buses.”
Brent said he knows that Public Works is aware of the problem, but he thinks there needs to be a sense of urgency about getting it corrected.
“It’s easier to be proactive than to be reactive and try to fix the problem after something happens,” Brent said. “We need to fix that street instead of just patching it up.”
Mayor Diane Delaware said that the city is looking at options to correct the problems, including a possible grant that could include the repair.
