Suspecting arson, investigators need the public’s assistance as they try to piece together what caused a house fire in Yazoo County early Thursday morning.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the fire occurred at 183 Passons Road between 2:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Sept. 7.
Gann said the state fire marshal and county fire marshal’s offices are assisting the sheriff’s department in the investigation.
“We definitely suspect arson,” Gann said. “We do have two suspects who we are looking at, but we are asking for the public’s help.”
Gann said no one was at the house at the time of the fire. It was new construction, hidden from view.
“Because of the house’s location, it wasn’t noticed until well after the house had burned down,” Gann said. “Some deer cameras that were placed out there were also stolen during the incident.”
Gann urges anyone with any information on the fire to call Crimestoppers at 746-TIPS.
