The Yazoo Herald earned seven awards for advertising excellence during the 150th annual advertising conference of the Mississippi Press Association in Jackson.
Herald publisher Jason Patterson received a first place award for Best Institutional Ad.
Patterson also won a cash prize during the Silver Dollar Idea Exchange where Mississippi newspaper publishers and advertising staff members shared their best ideas for promotions. Patterson described the special section The Yazoo Herald created that honored Yazoo County’s Vietnam veterans that was distributed in the paper and given to visitors to the Moving Vietnam Memorial Wall display.
Sheila Trimm Young won three awards, including second place for Financial Ad and second place for Back & White Retail Ad. She and John Sullivan shared a second place for Color Retail Ad.
Sullivan also won a second place award for Healthcare Ad, and third place awards for House Ad Promoting Websites and Online Advertisement.
Patterson said these awards demonstrate the newspaper’s commitment to giving local businesses the best value for their advertising dollars.
“I’m proud of our staff for earning this recognition,” Patterson said. “They work hard to get results, and it’s satisfying to see them recognized for their efforts.”
