The Nation's Weather for Friday, April 28, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
The focus for severe weather will shift back to Texas
tomorrow as spotty severe thunderstorms develop late in the
day. Those storms will form in central Texas and grow in
coverage and intensity overnight. Flooding downpours, hail,
damaging wind gusts and even an isolated tornado will all be
possible. Hail and damaging winds are also not out of the
question with thunderstorms in the Florida Peninsula, but
the severe threat will be lower than in Texas. Meanwhile, a
steady and soaking rain will progress northeastward into the
eastern Great Lakes and northern mid-Atlantic. A zone of
rain will also stretch from Minnesota southwestward to the
Texas Panhandle. The West Coast will be warm to hot, with
record-challenging temperatures. The warmth will cause
snowmelt to accelerate in the mountains.
