Addy Poe, of Yazoo City, was recently invited to join outstanding students from across the nation to take part in a unique academic and career-oriented development experience, the National Youth Leadership Forum’s Advanced Medicine and Healthcare Workshop at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
“I was extremely honored to be considered and invited to this prestigious and informative experience,” Poe said. “As with my interest in the medical field, what I enjoyed the most from the unique experience was the advanced hands-on instruction and training that included a wide spectrum of measures, including ob-gyn simulation labs, venipuncture procedures and fracture reduction.”
Following her successful completion of this national program, Poe earned 60 hours of medical shadowing and two college credits.
“This in-depth experience with medical professionals made a lasting impression upon me to continue my desire to pursue a future in the medical field,” Poe said. “Through this interactive and detailed program, I was exposed to the compassionate yet methodical practices that perfectly embody the medical institute and my desire to be a contributing individual to those vital fields.”
