Indians still searching for elusive win

Yazoo City High School kicked off district play with a 40-16 loss to Clarksdale High School on Friday night.
The loss dropped the Indians to 0-7 on the year (0-1 in district).
The brunt of the damage to the Indians came on the ground, where the Wildcats racked up 396 yards and six touchdowns.

Two suspects arrested for 19-year-old's murder

A 19-year-old Yazoo City man is dead, and two men are charged with his murder after a Friday morning shooting on Prentiss Street.
Tandre Weekly, of 419 West Madison Street, was found in the street by police officers responding to a 911 call around 1:30 a.m.

MA Cheerleaders Earn Honors

Manchester Academy High School Cheer Squad traveled to Hot Springs, AR for NCA cheer camp on June1-4th. The squad received the overall most improved award and Herkie award. They also received Excellence in Top Team Evaluation and Excellence in the Champion Chant evaluation. The squad received a spirit stick every night and a Bid to nationals.

Yazoo voters will return to polls on Nov. 27

Mike Espy received strong support from his hometown voters as he carried Yazoo County with 52.48 percent of the vote.
Espy, who will face Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith in a runoff on Nov. 27, received 3,804 votes to Hyde-Smith’s 2,792.
Chris McDaniel finished third with 308 votes.
