Rowland remembers the three-hour mission that turned into seven days of survival

Before Thomas Rowland even graduated from high school, he knew he wanted to join the United States Marine Corps.
“My dad was a Marine, and he and I were never really close,” he admits. “I guess I wanted to prove to him that I was worthy of the title too. I signed up in 1993 and told them I wanted to leave as soon as I graduated.”

Indianola defeats MA 40-13

The struggles continued for the Manchester Academy Mavericks last Friday as they suffered a 40-13 loss to the Indianola Academy Colonels.
The loss drops the Mavs to 0-4 on the season.
The Colonels jumped out to a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter before the Mavs finally scored on a pass from Reeves Gooch to Adam Edgar.

Peyton McGlawn had one of the most impressive efforts in BA football history with 11 carries for 208 yards and five touchdowns and a two point conversion. He also helped lead the defense with eight tackles, with one for a loss, and three pass breakups.

William Hood

William Allen Hood died peacefully Sunday, June 22, 2025. He was 74.
Allen was born was born in Yazoo City, MS. He was a lifelong, dedicated member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, where he served as a member of the vestry. As a professional, he spent 50+ years as an oil and gas attorney practicing in Louisiana and Mississippi.
