The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is joining the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) by recognizing Feb. 22-28, 2026, as Engineers Week (EWeek).
“During Engineers Week, we are celebrating the dedicated engineers that keep Mississippi’s transportation infrastructure safe and reliable. By recognizing one engineer each day, we honor the every-day problem solvers whose expertise and commitment make our roads and bridges stronger,” said MDOT Executive Director Brad White. “At MDOT, we are responsible for the maintenance of more than 30,000 miles of highway and over 5,000 bridges, a task that is only possible thanks to the experience of these engineers. I am confident that whatever challenges arise, our talented team of engineers are equipped to keep Mississippi’s roads and bridges safe and secure.”
MDOT is made up several hundred engineers who work in various fields of construction, maintenance, bridge, materials, hydraulics and more. Each engineer at MDOT plays a role in safely maintaining and enhancing the state’s transportation network.
Each year, EWeek unites engineers, students, and communities across the nation to celebrate how engineering shapes the world. Founded by NSPE in 1951, EWeek is a week of recognition, and is a movement to inspire the next generation of innovators, spotlight the impact of our profession, and strengthen connections across the engineering community.
Starting Sunday, Feb. 22, a range of engineers will be featured on social media daily. You can find these features by following @MississippiDOT on Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn. Watch the full YouTube playlist HERE.
