After winning four straight games, Manchester Academy suffered a setback Monday with a 12-1 loss at Canton Academy.
The Lady Mavericks scored first with Analee Whitworth driving in a run in the first inning, but it would be the only time MA got on the board.
Whitworth led MA at the plate going 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Annabeth Merrell also had a hit.
Last week the Lady Mavericks enjoyed a pair of big wins by defeating St. Joseph 11-2 and Deer Creek 12-0.
Claire Beth Martien led MA at the plate against St. Joseph with three RBIs and a pair of hits. Molly McBride also had two hits for the Lady Mavericks, and Merrell, Morgan Foster and Embrie Carpenter each added a hit.
Mille Cerda earned the win while striking out six and only walking two.
Cerda also got the win over Deer Creek with seven strikeouts and no runs allowed.
Claire Stevens had another strong performance at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead her team’s offensive effort. Merrell and Carpenter also drove in a pair of runs each for MA.
On Saturday the Lady Mavericks will enter the North State Tournament hosted by North Delta.
