Local officers and investigators have joined forces with outside agencies to tackle crime within Yazoo City. And the community has probably noticed them in action recently.
“We have conducted several raids over the last several days,” said Police Chief Terry Gann. “And through those raids, we have uncovered some promising leads to many of our ongoing investigations.”
The Yazoo City Police Department has partnered with state and federal agencies as part of a campaign to tackle the local drug and gang violence wave that has ripped through the community. Gann anticipates that presence to continue over the upcoming days.
In other crime news, authorities continue to search for a suspect in the death of a man killed in what officials believe was an ambush shooting earlier this month.
The person of interest in the city’s latest shooting incident is Tyler Myles. Gann added that Myles has a lengthy criminal history and will be charged as a habitual offender.
Andrew Jackson, 28, died from gunshot wounds in what police officials believe was an ambush shooting at a local apartment complex earlier this month. He suffered from two gunshot wounds after a deadly shooting at Yazoo Estates apartment.
To report the whereabouts of Myles, Gann encourages the public to call the police department at 662-746-1131 or Crimestoppers.
