City leaders will be sending a resolution to state official to authorize the sale of liquor at restaurants on Sundays.
State officials recently stopped the sale of liquor at Yazoo City restaurants on Sundays due to a lack of wording within the city ordinances.
Mayor Diane Delaware said the state published the municipalities that were allowed to sell liquor at restaurants on Sundays, and Yazoo City was not included in that listing.
“It needs to be clear that we had nothing to do with this,” added Alderman Ron Johnson.
City leaders approved to send the resolution to the state to clear up any misunderstandings. Liquor sales on Sundays only applies to restaurants, not package stores.
