Jermall Wright will continue to guide Yazoo City’s public schools for at least another three years.
The Mississippi Department of Education Board voted unanimously this week to extend Wright’s contract as superintendent of the Mississippi Achievement School District for three years.
The Mississippi Achievement School District includes the former Yazoo City and Humphreys County districts, which were consolidated when the state took over the districts in an effort to lift the two districts from failing status.
Wright was chosen as superintendent based on his track record of turning around struggling districts.
In a statement the district outlined Wright’s plan for the future as being focused on the following five priorities:
1. Operational Efficiency
2. Safe and Orderly Schools
3. High-Quality Instruction
4. Engaged Stakeholders
5. Student Success
