Election season has arrived in Yazoo City again with qualifying deadline and election dates on the horizon.
Voters will head to the polls next year to decide which candidates will assume control of the Yazoo City Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The city council, headed by the mayoral post, has five aldermen positions to be decided by city voters.
Qualifying deadline has been set for Dec. 3. The primary election will be held on Feb. 1, 2022 with a potential runoff to be held on Feb. 22, 2022.
The general election will be held on the first Monday of April 2022.
In other Yazoo City news:
• Pipes have been installed along the extensive Fifteenth Street project. Asphalt and other street work are set to begin next week along the busy roadway.
• Paving will begin along Main Street around the third week of October.
• The Yazoo City splash pad project is slated to begin during the second week of October. The project is anticipated to be completed in November.
