Ruby Lorene Jackson Hawk, 91, of the Scotland Community passed away at her home on Saturday June 19, 2021.
Mrs. Hawk was born April 16, 1930 in Yazoo County to Bruce and Annie Hancock Jackson. She worked at E & W Manufacturing Co. for 25 years until they closed the company down. She retired from Yazoo Uniform Company, and was a member of Scotland Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son William Harrison Hawk, born June 4, 1951, her daughter Mary Helen Hawk Campbell born January 4, 1954, 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pomeroy Hawk; they were married August 5, 1950.
Lorene moved to the Scotland Community in 1946, with her family. The day her and Pomeroy got married they both worked until lunch, got married, and went back to work. She was working at Carr's Drug Store. When they married they lived in a small apartment in downtown Yazoo City.
They moved back to The Scotland Community, and rented a small house from Mr. Otah Hood. In 1963 they bought 3 acres of land from her mother and father, and built a house that she lived in until she passed away
Memorial graveside services will be conducted by Stricklin King Funeral Home Friday, June 25 at 11 a.m. in The Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Glen Allen officiating. There is no visitation scheduled.
