A local contractor remains behind bars after he allegedly refused to begin the job he was paid to do.
Chance Creel, 21, was charged with embezzlement under contract.
Simon Stubblefield, with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the suspect was paid to complete a construction job but failed to do so.
“He provided a price to a man to install a tin roof,” Stubblefield said. “The man paid him to do the job upfront, but the suspect never came back once he was paid.”
Creel remained in jail at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility as of press time.
In other county arrests, a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of narcotics and an arrest.
Shayna Barnett, 31, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (crystal methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, driving under the influence and no proof of insurance.
