A young woman was killed in an automobile accident in rural Yazoo County Tuesday afternoon.
Sylar Cassie Beliew, 21, of Yazoo County, was pronounced dead about 5 p.m. after a vehicle collision on Anding Oil City Road, west of Spires Lane. Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said her cause of death was from multi-system trauma after her car collided with a pick-up truck on the rural county road.
The accident was first reported at 3:54 p.m. and remains under investigation by the Yazoo County Sheriff's Department. Shivers said Beliew was the driver of a vehicle that collided head-on with a pick-up truck.
"First responders with the Yazoo County Sheriff's Department and the Tri Community Volunteer Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to remove the passenger door to gain access to the driver of the west bound car," Shivers said. "Upon getting access to the victim, she was placed on a back board, and paramedics with Pafford EMS pronounced her at the scene."
