Yazoo County came out of the gate firing on all cylinders Friday night and had the game on cruise control by halftime of their 33-8 dismantling of the South Delta Bulldogs.
The Panthers cracked the scoreboard first after a lengthy drive ended with a one-yard touchdown run from quarterback T.J. Rials. Rials booted the extra point through the uprights to give Yazoo County the early 7-0 lead.
Kavontae Jones punched in the Panthers next score (also a one yard run) and also caught the two-point conversion pass from Rials to push the lead to 15-0 where it would remain at the half.
Fresh out of the intermission, Jarrett Jasper returned the second half kickoff 85 yards for a score, increasing the lead to 21-0.
Gregory Shaffer hauled in a nine-yard pass from Rials later in the quarter to give YCHS a 27-0 lead.
South Delta finally got in the scoring column with a two yard run and two point conversion to make the score 27-8 heading into the final quarter.
Wide Receiver Cameron Williams scored on a 30-yard TD pass from Rials to end the game’s scoring.
Rials connected on 5-of-8 passes for 80 yards and two TDs. He also was the leading rusher with 72 yards and a score on 15 carries.
Jones had 65 yards and a TD on eight carries, and Brayden Jones had 64 yards on four carries.
Williams led all receivers with two receptions for 57 yards and a score, and Jasper had two catches for 14 yards.
Xavian Gainwell and Rodney Jefferson each had nine tackles to pace the Panther defense.
Timothy Grant had seven tackles, Tayshaun and Andre Simmons each had six tackles, and Jorden Banks had five.
Yazoo County hosts Velma Jackson this Friday night.
