After a dominating homecoming win over rival Benton, the Manchester Academy Mavericks traveled to Greenville last week to battle powerhouse Greenville Christian.
Unfortunately, the momentum from the previous victory didn’t carry over as the Mavs suffered a 48-0 defeat.
GCA basically put the game away in the first quarter, scoring a whopping 24 points.
They added 16 more in the second quarter to take a 40-0 lead at halftime, before tacking on the final score in the third quarter.
Greenville ended the night with 265 yards of total offense compared to 63 yards for Manchester.
Most of Greenville’s yards came through the air (206).
Manchester quarterback Brendan Thrasher completed 2-of-6 pass attempts for 37 yards and had one interception.
Will Ketchum had one reception for 28 yards and Tobias McGee had the other one for nine yards.
Jack Miller led the MA ground attack with 27 yards on nine carries, followed by Ethan White with seven carries for 16 yards, and McGee with nine carries for eight yards.
Sam Bunch was the leading tackler on the night with five tackles and a fumble recovery.
Miller had four tackles and Garner Burton and Thrasher each had two tackles.
Manchester returns home this week against St. Joseph.
