Contestants for the Queen, Princess and Sweetheart Pageant have been announced for the 2022 Yazoo County Livestock Association.
Queen – Lindsey Hogue: Lindsey is 15 years old and is in the 9th grade at Benton Academy. Lindsey is the daughter of Nicole Hogue. She enjoys working with and showing her pigs and goats, riding and showing her horses, helping her cousins learn about showing animals, and spending time with friends and family. Lindsey is a member of Midway United Methodist Church and attends the youth group at First Baptist Church in Yazoo City on Wednesday nights. Throughout her years at Benton Academy, Lindsey has participated in basketball, cheerleading, softball, track, and cross country. This year Lindsey was blessed to achieve state champion in the girl’s 3A division cross country and represented Benton Academy in the all-state meet on November 13 and place 7th and made the 1st All-State Team. She has received many academic awards including highest average for several years and MVP in cross country. She has served her class on the student council and FCA leadership team since the 7th grade. Lindsey’s future plans are undecided but she knows she wants to attend Mississippi State University.
Kaye Louise Purvis: Kaye Louise is the 16-year-old daughter of Hardy and Holly Purvis. She is in the 10th grade at Benton Academy, where she is active in cheerleading, basketball, track, and golf. She is very active in the Yazoo County Livestock Association, where she has shown pigs over the past several years. She is a member of Black Jack Baptist Church and is involved in the youth group. Kaye Louise likes to spend most of her free time in the deer stand, and she also likes spending time with her friends and family. She plans to further her education at Holmes Community College and continue pursuing her criminal justice degree at Mississippi State University.
Princess – Anna Grace Davis: Anna Grace is the 13-year-old daughter of Brad and Jennifer Davis. She is an honor student at Manchester Academy. Anna Grace attends Parkview Church of God, where she is an active youth member. She has been a member of 4-H for five years and helped with her family’s petting zoo and show goats. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, fishing, and taking care of her many animals. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
Ava Grace Meeks: Ava Grace in the 12-year-old daughter of Matt and Maegan Meeks and in is the 6th grade at Benton Academy. She enjoys riding 4-wheelers, hunting, playing with her animals, jumping on the trampoline, riding horses, and playing with her little brother. She also enjoys hanging out with friends and family. Ava Grace’s favorite color is blue. She has two siblings, Anna Bryce and Miller. She plays many sports including cross country, track, cheerleading, basketball, and softball. She also prides herself of being on the A/B honor roll. She has 4 pigs named Midnight, Milk, Blackout, and Salt, further stating her best pig is Milk and has placed Reserve Champion in competition. Ava Grace said her favorite movie is Peter Rabbit 2.
Mary Tyndall Odum: Mary Tyndall is the 10-year-old daughter of Joe and Phyllis Odum. She is in the 5th grade at Bentonia Gibbs Elementary and is a member of the Pee-Wee basketball team. She is a member of First Baptist Church in Yazoo City, where she is active in the children’s ministry program. Mary Tyndall enjoys shopping, reading, painting, and drawing. She also enjoys playing outside with her brother, John William and spending time with her baby sister, Joanna Trenton. In her free time, Mary Tyndall enjoys fishing and shooting her gun. During the Spring of 2021, Mary Tyndall participated in the Yazoo County Fishing Club. She loves to travel and recently visited Mount Rushmore but really enjoys her favorite vacation spot, the beach. She also enjoys attending musicals at the theater with her mom and recently saw Mamma Mia and Cinderella. This is Mary Tyndall’s 3rd year showing pigs in the Yazoo County Livestock Association and says she enjoys working with her pigs; and helping her dad groom and care for them.
Elsie Patterson: Elsie Patterson is the 10-year-old daughter of Jason and Jamie Patterson. She is in the 5th grade at Benton Academy. Aside from being on the school’s honor roll, she is a member of Benton Academy’s Pee Wee Cheer Team and Pee Wee Basketball Team. During the summer, she plays on the Yazoo City Dixie Softball team. Elsie’s other hobbies are hunting, fishing, and training her pig for the Yazoo County Livestock Show. She is a member of First United Methodist Church and is an active member of the youth group.
Palmer Russell: Palmer Russell in the 9-year-old daughter of Brent and Dena Russell and has a brother name Renner. She attends Tri-County Academy and is in the 4th grade, where her favorite subject is math. Palmer is on the cheerleading squad and a member of the basketball team. She is a member of Scotland Baptist Church. Palmer’s hobbies are hunting, fishing, shopping, showing lambs, checking cows, feeding chickens, cooking, and spending time with friends.
Sweetheart – Rae Holland Cox: Rae Holland Cox is the 7-year-old daughter of Matt and Amy Cox. She is in the 2nd grade and attends Benton Academy. Rae Holland enjoys taking care of and riding her horse, Rango. She also enjoys checking on her family’s cows with her daddy. She really enjoys showing goats and cows and has won pee wee showmanship in the past. Rae Holland attends Black Jack Baptist Church and also participates in gymnastics. She looks forward to breaking and working with a calf of her own and says she already has it chosen and named Rosie. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time at her Memaw’s and Papaw’s house.
Emmy Langford: Emmy Langford is 5-year-old daughter of Mark and Angelia Langford. Emmy attends Midway United Methodist Church with her family. She enjoys riding her horses and helping her daddy feed the dogs. She also has fun helping her “LuLu” with the pigs and goats. Emmy has been showing pigs since she was able to walk and shows in the under 8 Showmanship for the Yazoo County Livestock Association and recently started showing goats. In her spare time, Emmy enjoys going dog hunting with her daddy and anything else that involves being outdoors.
